Meet our people
Like our jobs, our team is highly diverse. Each of us has their own skillset and their own story to tell. Those stories combine to create the story of HM Group.

Truck Driver
I was here as a small boy when the warehouse was opened in 1983. When I was 10 years old, I was driving along with Ron van der Bruggen. The fact that he still works here really says something. Both of my parents also worked here. Before I started here myself, fourteen years ago, I worked for other companies first. The great thing here at Hooymeijer is that I can do all kinds of things. One day, I may be driving a truck, while the next day I am doing all kinds of jobs on the site. I love that diversity. The atmosphere is also great here.

Compared to my last job, things happen on a smaller scale here and the personal contact within the organisation is better. I love the versatility here at Hooymeijer. We can offer a wide range of services. After a hard day’s work, there is always room to discuss the week and share a drink with colleagues. Having fun is a vital aspect of what we do here.

Planner
I ended up at Hooymeijer after the takeover of Nico Kind. It was not entirely by choice, you might say. Everything was supposed to stay the same, but it did not. That bothered me. Still, the atmosphere was great from the onset. A few years ago, I was not doing so well personally. Hooymeijer really came through for me then and supported me in every way. They were right there at my side. I am still grateful for that. My salary always comes on time, that is important too. Things are very informal here. I am not afraid of talking to the owner if I run into him outside work.

This job is really my thing. It suits me. I learn something new every day, I am surrounded by people. I need that. Hooymeijer is an established name and takes good care of its people. For years, I had my own transport business. In this growing economy, it might be appealing to be an independent entrepreneur again, but I am done with that. I am doing just fine right here!

Truck Driver
I work at a great company, with a great team and I love my job very much. That is reason enough to stay. I am happy when I get in my truck in the morning and I am happy when I go home in the evening. I have been promoted to coffee manager, just because my colleagues are too lazy to do it themselves, but that is fine with me. I make everyone happy when I bring them a fresh cup of coffee.

The people are what make Hooymeijer for me. People with the right attitude. I have a lot of freedom here and plenty of opportunities to develop myself. Every day, I face a new challenge and I have the chance to really dig into something. Most importantly, though, is that we laugh an awful lot here.

Truck Driver
I started out by working for Jan’s business. We did a lot of work for Hooymeijer back then, so I knew everyone already. When Hooymeijer took over the business, it felt like coming home. A few years ago, things went sour with the planner at the time and I left the company. Meanwhile, I kept texting and calling my former colleagues. I could not let Hooymeijer go. When they were looking for another driver, I came right back. Things are more personal here. I know what is going on in the rest of the organisation.

I love the variety of the job and how fun everyone is to be around. I have been given a lot of opportunities at Hooymeijer. As a declarant, I am at the mercy of customs regulations and rules that are forced on you out of nowhere. I love dealing with all that.

At Hooymeijer, you know what you get. Everything is taken care of properly. The business innovates and we are involved in that process. Hooymeijer is a renowned name and a great organisation. As a driver, you can tell. The lines are short here and we treat each other as equals.
